McCabe Ambulance has been the exclusive 9-1-1 provider for the City of Bayonne since the early 1980s. Currently, McCabe has a fleet of eleven Basic Life Support ambulances licensed by the State of New Jersey for EMS response. Two of these ambulances are certified to perform both BLS and Specialty Care Transport for those patients who are critically ill or injured.

On average, McCabe answers 19,000 calls per year. Not just limited to the City of Bayonne, McCabe also provides mutual aid for neighboring communities in Hudson County and emergency response to the New Jersey Turnpike and Bayonne Bridge.

Over the years, McCabe Ambulance has responded to many large-scale events. H. Mickey McCabe, serving as the EMS County OEM Coordinator, is responsible for the planning and mobilization of all Hudson County EMS resources during a large-scale incident.

McCabe Ambulance has responded to many large scale incidents over the years, including the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the Secaucus train derailment in 1995, the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks, and the U.S. Airways Flight 1549 crash in 2009.

McCabe Ambulance Service was recognized by the State of New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services as the 2004 EMS Private Provider of the Year. In addition to receiving this honor, H. Mickey McCabe was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for his continued involvement in working to improve New Jersey's EMS system.
